This illustration is about history-fiction ….. Remember the second Persian War , when the armies of Jerjes enter the Grecian ground and pass the Thermopylae and go to conquer the city of Athens . In that place Themistocles/ Θεμιστοκλῆς (who was proclaimed in the 493BC Arcont when the first medical war explodes) develop the strategy of the wood wall and Athens was defended of the Persian attack basing on its naval superiority, leaving the hand-to-hand combat by earth. Thus all the city was evacuated and transferred the population until the army defeated the Persian Navy in Salamis.
But before the Salamis victory the city of Athens was invaded by the Persians who found it desert. The Acropolis was profaned and temples burned. But, it is possible that really everybody went away leaving the sacred places without defence?
